Understanding Your MPRN in Northern Ireland

What your electricity supply number is, where to find it and why it matters when switching supplier.
When you switch supplier or ask about your electricity connection, you may be asked for a supply number. In Northern Ireland, an MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) is typically called an MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number). It is a unique 11-digit number that starts with 81 and is used to identify the electricity supply point for your property.
The number identifies the electricity supply point for your property. It is linked to the connection, not simply to the physical meter, which is why it is so useful when suppliers need to make sure they are switching the right address.
A correct supply number reduces the risk of delays or the wrong property being selected. Keep it handy with a recent meter reading before starting a switch.
