Power NI Price Rise: What to Check Before 1 July
Published on 16 June 2026 by Wee Switch NI Team. Last reviewed 16 June 2026.
A practical checklist for Northern Ireland households before Power NI residential prices rise on 1 July 2026.
Power NI residential prices are due to rise from 1 July 2026. If you are with Power NI, or if it appears near the top of a comparison table today, treat the date as part of the decision rather than comparing only the current unit rate.
Find your payment method first: keypad, monthly Direct Debit, quarterly Direct Debit, standard bill or online billing. The practical impact can differ by payment type, so use the rate that matches the way you actually pay.
Do not switch only because one supplier has announced a change. Other suppliers can change offers too, and a tariff that looks better on unit rate may have a standing charge, payment condition or incentive rule that changes the annual total.
Between now and 1 July, Power NI comparisons are date-sensitive. Keep a meter reading, check the effective date on any table, and re-check the annual total once the new prices are live.

The useful takeaway
